Los Lobos Profile
Monday February 27, 2006
"Will the Wolf Survive" is the first Los Lobos tune I ever heard. I remember the exact moment. Driving home after a ho-hum night of the same old music, the same old bands, Los Lobos came on the radio and I thought: "Now that's something different. I like these guys!"
And I still like these guys. Thirty years after they started making music, their mixutre of Rock, Tex-Mex, R&B and blues still has the power to get the blood rushing and the feet moving. Their music is so unique there is no chance you will ever confuse them with any other Latin group before them or after them.
With the release of their current 'best of' single-discs, Woftracks, it's tempting to get back in the car, go back in time and hear them for the first time all over again.
