Bossa Nova means the "new way" in Portuguese, but initially it's difficult to think of anything "new" you can do with the distinctive sound from Brazil. Well, the master of bossa nova, Sergio Mendes, did.

Thinking of fusing bossa nova and samba with hip-hop is not something that immediately comes to mind, but it really works. Mendes' new album, Timeless, is proof of an exciting new direction for the most famous Brazilian genre and definitely a new way.
