Tejano Music Awards
Wednesday March 29, 2006
Tejano music is widely popular in the U.S. and Mexico, and there are a lot of great Tejano artists performing today, especially in the Southwestern U.S. So it seems appropriate that San Antonio, that hotbed of Tejano talent, was the site of this year's 26th annual Tejano Music Awards Show.
The awards program culminated the 2006 Tejano Music Awards Fun Fair where over ninety bands on five stages performed for an audience of 100,000+ fans.
Even though Tejano music is one of the largest selling Latin genres in the U.S., the Latin Grammys have only 1 out of 43 categories devoted to this popular music. It makes sense that they have their own awards show, honoring the best of this year's Tejano performances.
