Premios Juventud Awards - You Pick the Winners
Tuesday May 16, 2006
Unlike other awards shows, Premios Juventud recognizes popularity in the area of film, music, sports, fashion and pop culture. Winners are determined by online voting on Univision.com, the country’s hottest Spanish-language website. (Keyword: Premios Juventud)
The unusual feature of these awards is the categories. Music categories include The Perfect Combo, Best Moves, Red Hot Artist, Catchiest Tune, CD to Die For, Favorite Concert, Best Ballad, etc. While the categories are not what you might expect, the nominees are a list of the usual suspects, including Alejandro Fernandez, Thalia, Intocable, Marc Anthony, India, Daddy Yankee, RBD, Shakira, Juanes – well, you can probably fill in the rest for yourself.
This is the third year the Premios Juventud (Youth Awards) will be telecast, following blockbuster ratings the first two years. The winners will be announced on July 13th on the Univision Network (8-11 PM ET/PT, 7-10 PM Central/Mountain).
Speaking of hot television programs, Mega TV will be broadcasting a special tribute to Celia Cruz, the "Queen of Cuba". The program will document the extraordinary life of one of the most influential women in Cuban - actually in all of Latin- music. Catch it Thursday, May 18th at 9 PM.
