CD Review: Somos Americanos (We Are Americans)

Walking through my local record store, I picked up Somos Americanos for two reasons: curiosity and a $10 price tag. Really, how could I resist for 10 bucks?

This was my first audio experience of "Nuestro Himno". I've avoided it after reading all the press and reader comments. The National Anthem with latin rhythms? Was it salsa? Was it tejano, pop, merengue, reggaeton? Would it even sound like the National Anthem? Would it be touching or offensive?

And, of course, the big question: is my $10 buying any good music or is it just lining the pockets of the English businessman who conceived of the project?
