New Single from Tego Calderon: "Los Mate"
Wednesday August 9, 2006
Reggaeton's Tego Calderon's new album, The Underdog / Subestimado, is the first offering of Calderon's own label Jiggiri Records, distributed by Atlantic.
In this Caribbean roadtrip of a record, Calderon says he's taken the approach of fusing hip hop / rap with Puerto Rican bomba, Cuban rumba, Jamaican reggae, salsa and blues. Then he's turned down the computer generated percussion and added more live percussion and brass to the pot. Adding some spicy guest artists like Buju Banton, Voltio, Yandel, Don Omar and salsa's Oscar D'Leon, the album should serve up some tasty music for Calderon's fans.
The album is due in record stores on August 29th, but you can get an hors d'oeuvre now by listening to the first single from the CD, "Los Mate".
