Premier Postage Commemorates 'Tejano Queen' Selena
Thursday October 5, 2006
Some of us are hard pressed not to become collectors, especially about something we love. Now fans of the late, great Latin artist, Selena Quintanilla, have something new to collect.
Premier Postage has just issued a new commemorative postage sheet honoring the Grammy Award winning tejano singer. These are 39 cent stamps, so although you can only get them at Premier Postage (not the U.S. Post Office), they can still be used when you send mail to your fellow Latin music lovers. Of course, if it were me, these stamps would never even catch sight of an envelope.
Speaking of stamps, if you do collect them, a while back the U.S.P.S. offered a great 4 stamp collection honoring Latin dance: salsa, merengue, cha cha and mambo. It must have been quite a while back, since these are 37 cent stamps, but they are still available from the U.S.P.S. web store. Each of the 4 stamps was designed by a different Latin artist, and they just pop out at you. I've got mine framed and on the wall for inspiration.
