Las Vegas Hosts 2nd Annual World Salsa Championships

For all you salseras /salseros out there, the 2nd Annual World Salsa Championships are being held in Las Vegas this year. The dates are Dec. 13 - 16th at the South Point Hotel. Currently there are 189 dancers from 24 countries that have qualified for this competition and that number should go up as we move a little closer to the actual competition date. The event is produced by The Salsa Seven, Inc.

The semi-finals will be held on Thursday and Friday nights with the grand finale on Saturday. The event will be filmed and broadcast later next year through ESPN International and ESPN Deportes; for those of you who can't attend, I'll post the TV viewing dates as they become available.

But of course it will be much more exciting in person. If you are able, don't miss the opportunity to compete or - for the rest of us - watch the best salsa dancers in the world vie for the title. That doesn't mean you can't dance. After the competetive portion of the program, there will be live music and dancing until the wee hours.

Try out your own moves on the competition dance floor! See if you could be a competitor next year! If you feel you need a little bit more help, there are workshops you can attend Thurs. thru Sat. from 3 PM - 5 PM for a measly $10 charge.
