CD Review: Chayanne - Cautivo
Thursday December 28, 2006
Chayanne is a major heartthrob to teenagers in his native Puerto Rico and in many of the surrounding Latin countries. His days as a singer in the boy band "Los Chicos" started his meteoric rise to fame and he's made 13 albums since his solo debut in 1984.
But no matter how popular he is with his fan base, in many ways, he really hasn't gotten much musical respect. His past albums have primarily been a blend of romantic pop and while he's knocked out hit after hit, musically the tracks have not been particularily notable.
There's a good chance Cautivo will change all that. More rock than pop, a new record label, excellent production values and a voice that's stronger than ever, this album introduces a new Chayanne who's well worth meeting.

While I love this cd I have to disagree with a few of your observations. While the artist has teenaged fans I feel his fanbase is more far reaching than you know. Teenagers to seniors, those who speak Spanish to those who don’t speak a word of it adore the artist and his music. Cautivo is just one of many great projects by this artist who has consistently produced music that touches your heart or makes you want to dance or both. After over 25 years in the music business he continues to grow musically and his fanbase just keeps getting bigger.
