Concert Review: RBD at Universal City
Thursday February 8, 2007
The crowd was huge, their excitement running like an electric current through the Gibson Amphiteatre as they waited to see and hear Latin pop sensation RBD.
The average age was probably around 15. They came from all over the West Coast and were eager to share information (good thing for me). They told me the concert had sold out in the first 10 minutes of ticket sales. They explained the intricacies of the characters, and which member of the youthful sextet they had especially come to see. They screamed every time the side door opened, although they couldn't possibly have seen who was standing there.
Armed with a camera in one hand, often a camera phone in the other, they waved the blue-lit phones in time to the music. They knew the words to every song and grabbed the many opportunities the performers offered to sing along.
It was a wonderful, heartwarming evening. Oh, RBD wasn't bad either.
Special thanks to Erik Aguilar from Riverside, CA for guiding me through all things RBD.
