CD Review: Los Cocorocos

Thursday February 15, 2007
Los Cocorocos is an album that delivers an eclectic and entertaining blend of classic salsa injected with more modern rhythms and genres, primarily reggaeton and hip hop. Some of the tracks are remakes of salsa classics, others are original to this CD.

The list of artists is terrific. To list a few, there are contributions from Gilberto Santa Rosa, Victor Manuelle, Tito Nieves and Domingo Quinones from the salsa side and from Don Omar, Voltio, Zion, Tego Calderon and La Sista from the urban side. The result is musically engaging and often just plain fun.

And finally, ladies, if your Valentine's day was not all you expected, then listen to Gilberto Santa Rosa and Don Omar sing "Los Hombres Tienen La Culpa" (Men Are To Blame). I think you'll share the sentiment as well as have a chance to work off those bad feelings dancing to a vital, electric beat.
