Top New Releases - June 2007

Friday June 1, 2007
Starting this month, I'm going to publish my top ten picks for great releases of the month. As a preview, here are my top three:

Daddy Yankee - El Cartel: The Boss - 6/5
Three years in the waiting, reggaeton's Daddy Yankee has finally released his first studio album in 3 years. Barrio Fino came out in 2004 and since then we've had Barrio Fino II, Son of Barrio Fino, The Bride of Barrio Fino - okay, this is a joke at the expense of all the different versions of the same CD name artists seem to be producing these days. So, now for something new! Oh wait, I forgot about 2000's El Cartel and 2001's El Cartel II. Finally, El Cartel: The Boss. Can someone explain these naming conventions to me?

Alejandro Fernandez - Viento A Favor - 6/26
Viento A Favor is Fernandez' first studio album since 2003's wonderful Corazon Abierto. That's a long wait for eager fans. Was it worth the wait? Watch the video for the album's single "Te Voy A Perder" and you be the judge.

Enrique Iglesias - Insomniac - 6/12
Since this seems to be the month for long awaited releases, let's round up the trio with Insomnic, Iglesias' first album since 2003's Seven (7). Here's the preview:
