A.B. Quintanilla y Los Kumbia Kings / Kumbia AllStarz

Since its formation in 1999, Los Kumbia Kings has been one of the most popular tejano bands in the world. Formed by A.B. Quintanilla, brother of tejano superstar Selena, and Cruz Martinez, the group hit the ground running with their very first album, a mix of traditional cumbia, pop, hip hop, r&b and funk.
But it wasn't that many years later that problems started haunting the group, first with the defection of a number of the band members, followed by bad blood between Quintanilla and Martinez and squabbles over money, ownership of the band's name and - well, money.
This year Quintanilla announced the formation of Kumbia AllStarz with the King's wildly popular teenage vocalist, PeeWee Gonzalez. Martinez continued with the original Kumbia Kings band which is slowly changing shape as some of the original band members return.
What's next for these two groups? It looks like Quintanilla has won back the Kumbia Kings name, so the names and compositions of the two bands are still up in the air.
But whatever the future holds, it won't be boring and it won't be private, since both sides have a tendency to air their grievances in public.
