Soundtrack For A Southwest Road Trip
Tuesday June 19, 2007
It's midway between Memorial Day and July 4th and I'm spending all my spare time making compilation CDs that will provide the sountrack to road trips I'm planning this summer. When I get home, I want my memories to be invoked by all the senses, not just that of sight and mental pictures of the exquisite scenery I'm expecting to see.
For instance, hearing a song you were listening to as you drove the rim of the Grand Canyon can vividly bring the experience back to you in a flash. Smell works the same way, but you're on your own there.
Here's a list of songs that I've included in my soundtrack for a trip across the Southwestern U.S. I put in some tejano music, some Mexican rock, a mix of English and Spanish lyrics and lots of driving music to invoke the days of cowboys, vast plains and warm desert nights.
