Ricky Martin: Tour Dates for Fall, 2007

The dates for the next leg of Ricky Martin's Black & White Tour have been announced; fans will have another opportunity to hear the Puerto Rican superstar starting at the end of September. It's still early, so as dates get added (or changed), I'll update the schedule.
Ricky Martin will also be getting his own star on Hollywood's 'Walk of Fame' this fall. There are 3 criteria for getting a star in the heart of Hollywood: professional achievement, longevity of 5 years in the field of entertainment and contributions to the community.
Martin is certainly a superstar and he started his career young as a member of the boy band Menudo. He deserves a gold star for his dedication in fighting for the well-being of children throughout the world through his Ricky Martin Foundation.
I thought it would be interesting to see how many other Latin music artists have a star. The categories are divided into achievement in motion pictures, recording, television, radio and stage. I counted the number of Latin music artists in the recording category and the number sure seemed low to me - 20 in all. There are 10 contemporary artists - or at least musicians that are still with us.
But, you know, you can nominate your favorite artist (assuming their management agrees). Just remember the criteria. Check it out for yourself at the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce website.
By the way, the 10 contemporary artists are: Ismael Lopez Cachao, Gloria Estefan, Jose Feliciano, Alejandro Fernandez, Vicente Fernandez, Juan Gabriel, Julio Iglesias, Jose Jose, Luis Miguel and Carlos Santana.
