New Latin Music Releases for August, 2007
Saturday August 4, 2007
Domingo Quinones - Quien Mato A Hector Lavoe? - 7/31
Who Killed Hector Lavoe? played off-Broadway in the late 1990s with Dominigo Quinones singing the part of the late, lamented 'El Cantante de los Cantantes'. This album is a new release of some of the numbers on the original cast album. I think this might be the last CD jumping on the El Cantante bandwagon - at last.
Ricardo Arjona - Quien Dijo Ayer - 8/21
Based on the success of 2006's Adentro, there are probably a lot of Latin music fans that will be eager to grab a copy of Guatemala Arjona's new album. Come August 21, they'll be able to do just that.
Kat Deluna - 9 Lives - 8/7 Dominican New Yorker Kat Deluna's debut album is worth a listen, with music that blends pop/hip hop with some of her native Dominican rhythms.
Well, not all the tunes include Dominican rhythms, such as her enjoyable but purely hip hop, English-language single, "Whine It Up".
