2007 World Salsa Championships

Listening to salsa is not only addictive but can easily become hypnotic and mind-altering. Confirmed wallflowers turn into dance floor lotharios; those twin left-feet suddenly seem to work just fine, inspired by swaying hips.

Dancing salsa can be a one-night drama played against the beat of tropical drums or - for the fit and kinetically blessed - it can become a way of life. And what better way to celebrate that life than by bringing home a trophy from a World Championship Salsa competition?

There are two well-known organizations that offer salsa dance afficionados that opportunity. The first is the World Salsa Championships sponsored by the World Salsa Federation (WSF) under the direction of Isaac Altman; the second is the World Salsa Championships sponsored by the Salsa Seven, Inc. under the leadership of Albert Torres.

This year, the WSF's 6th Annual World Salsa Championships will be held Nov. 8-10th at the Miccosukee Resort & Gaming in Miami, FL. The Salsa Seven's 3rd Annual World Salsa Championships will be held Dec. 12-16th at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, FL. Remember that you don't have to be a championship dancer to enjoy these events. Besides having an opportunity to watch performances by the best salsa couples in the world, there are always daily public dancing opportunities and you've got to believe that the live music will be exceptional.
