2008 Spring Latin Music Award Round-Up

Both flavors of Grammys (Latin & 'regular') have been awarded, but the succession of Latin music award programs are far from over. Three of the most popular are scheduled for the next couple of months, so here's a round-up of nominees and dates to jot down on your calendar.

20th Annual Premio Lo Nuestro Latin Music Awards
The Premio Lo Nuestro Latin Music Awards are only a week away, and if you haven't voted yet, maybe now's the time to go to the Univision website and cast a ballot for the artists you just know should win!

If last year is any indication, the performances on this show are some of the best I've seen. Pepe Aguilar is scheduled to appear, straight from two big wins at both the Latin Grammy and 'regular' Grammy awards (although not for the same album). Then, for tropical music enthusiasts, the roster boasts performances by Elvis Crespo, Grupo Mania and Olga Tanon. Both the Kumbia AllStarz and Los Super Reyes will make a showing and, given the competition between these two groups, they're bound to heat it up a notch.

Also scheduled to perform are Enrique Iglesias, Los Tigres del Norte and Jenni Rivera. Reggaeton fans can look forward to seeing Wisin y Yandel and Ivy Queen. And there's much more. This is not a night to be missed.

Billboard Latin Music Awards
The Billboard Latin Music Awards reward the artists, albums and songs that make the most money! Well, sort of. They honor the best-selling albums and most-played radio songs, so I figure that goes hand-in-hand with the bucks, which are probably richly deserved.

This year's nominees are dominated by reggaeton, pop and rock, which comes as no surprise if you listen to Latin music radio stations. The Billboard Awards will be telecast on Telemundo, Thursday April 10th at 7 pm.

28th Annual Tejano Music Awards
Tejano music has given us Selena, Freddie Fender, Los Kumbia Kings, Intocable and Jennifer Pena among many, many others. This year the 28th Annual Tejano Music Awards will be held at La Villita Assembly Hall in San Antonio, TX on March 6, 2008. The awards will be followed by a 3-day Tejano Music Awards Funfare, Mar. 7 -9 at the historic Market Square in downtown San Antonio.

This is one event where you can participate by buying tickets at the Tejano Music Awards website. The nominees for this years awards should be announced next week and we'll keep you posted.
