New Releases For March 4, 2008

Tuesday March 4, 2008
There are some big albums dropping today, starting with Kumbia AllStarz new one, Planeta Kumbia. A.B. Quintanilla and company continue to experience problems; currently they're loosing their lead singer PeeWee to a solo career. You can see more of the Kumbia AllStarz all through the month of March on MTV Tr3s.

From the number of reader queries I've received over the past few years, the DVD/VHS Forever Tango is going to make a lot of people happy. The Argentine tango extravaganza is produced by Luis Bravo and was filmed live at the Teatro Coliseo Podesta in La Plata, Argentina.

The release of Los Tigres del Norte's Raices has promised to be a surprise, and it is. Raices is full of tunes from Mexican folkloric tradition. The album's first single "Rumbo al Sur" is quickly rising to the top of the Latin charts; they also have another album release in a couple of weeks.

(1) Carlos Reyes says:

“Planeta Kumbia” is truly dissapointing, the very worst A.B. Quintanilla has touched. Sadly, since I think he used to have a clear control on his art. The last album was mediocre, but it had some good tracks, but this was just not my cup of tea. The best song is by far the collaboration with Mala Rodriguez & Vicentico, and they truly shine in it. This just proves that A.B. is still a good producer, but his constant shakes with his group are becoming Quintanilla’s biggest monster.
