I didn't used to think of dancefloor electronica/dub and Brazilian music as a natural fusion, but maybe I should. A number of these types of albums have taken residence on my ipod in the last few months, but one of my favorites is 1 Real from DJ Dolores. 1 Real fuses the expected with the unexpected; in this case, the unexpected is music & rhythms from NE Brazil like forro and maracatu and lyrics that are worth listening to. Add a dash of quirky humor, unexpected images and a wildly eclectic selection of topics and you get an album that will keep you thinking as well as dancing.
