Brooklyn Academy of Music Offers "Songs from The Capeman"

Tuesday April 1, 2008
I've always been surprised that Paul Simon's The Capeman did so poorly on Broadway. With a cast that included Marc Anthony, Ruben Blades and Ednita Nazario, you can bet the singing and acting were not the problem. I love the music by Paul Simon.

It might be that the story of gang member Salvador Agron was a little too gritty for the times (the lyrics were gritty too, but fit well with the theme).

New Yorkers will have a chance to hear these songs again as the Brooklyn Academy of Music presents "Songs from The Capeman" , the first of a 3-part celebration of Paul Simon's music. There's a pretty good cast here, too, that includes Oscar Hernandez and the Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Obie Bermudez, Claudette Sierra and more.

The show is scheduled for April 1st - 6th at the BAM Harvey Theater. You can get tickets at the BAM website.
