CD Review: Putumayo Presents Cafe Cubano

Monday May 19, 2008
Putumayo has put together a number of albums striving to recreate the cafe music experience. Their newest entry is Cafe Cubano with a track list that includes son, guajira, trova and boleros performed by primarily Cuban musicians.

Listening to music at a cafe is not the same as attending a stadium concert. There are no colored lights, props or special effects. The music is often earthier, the experience more intimate. When the music is done right, it's not difficult to picture yourself sitting in that outdoor cafe, enjoying a balmy evening, feeling a light ocean breeze cool your back.

So, you ask, is Cafe Cubano done right?

I'll let you know when I'm done sipping my mojito.
