Coming Events: Salsa Dance Championships, Latin Music Collectors Festival

The World Salsa Federation is hosting their 7th annual World Salsa Championships on Nov. 7th & 8th; the event will again be held at the Miccosukee Resort and Gaming in Miami, FL. If you're a salsa dance competitor, you probably already know that this year the World Junior and Youth Salsa Championships are included. But with bands like the Fania All Stars and Larry Harlow & The Latin Legends Band performing, you can just go listen to some great salsa (although I dare you to stay off the floor with that kind of music being played!). On the other hand, if you find yourself in New York rather than Miami, you might want to head out to the 5th Annual International Tropical Music Collector's Fair. This year the Fair celebrates the bolero with panels composed of Latin music historians and celebrities while historical films and clips will be displayed as DJs and collectors spin tunes from their personal collections.

There will also be musical segments by Trio New York, David Oquendo y Su Conjunto, Sammy Ayala from Zon Del Barrio, Graciela from Machito & his Afro Cubans, Santiao Ceron and more. Sounds like an event that anyone who loves Latin tropical music will surely enjoy.
