Wisin & Yandel - Reggaeton's 'Duo De La Historia'

Wednesday November 5, 2008
There's one sure way to tell who's at the top of their game. Yes, a look at the Latin music charts helps as do those tidbits in the media that let you know someone is popular enough to be tabloid-worthy.

But the ultimate test is what I call the 'scream' test. When an artist appears onstage, how loud are the screams? Does anyone tear their hair or clothes? Is the hysteria level near fever pitch?

If the scream test is telling, then one of the most popular groups in Latin music is Wisin & Yandel. The reggaeton artists from Cayey, Puerto Rico have been together for 10 years now and their last 2 studio albums have spawned so many hit singles and videos that - when it comes to the popularity crown - fellow reggaetonero Daddy Yankee needs to step down.

And yes, they pass the other tests: their songs often top the charts and the tabloids will take all they can get about Wisin y Yandel!
