One of the most exciting events regarding Latin Alternative music is almost here. Tomorrow, the 13th edition of the annual Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC) kicks off in New York City. The event, which is widely considered the most important Latin Alternative gathering in the US, will run for four days between July 11-14.
Just like the previous years, the 2012 edition is bringing top artists including Latin Urban sensation band Calle 13, Chilean rapper Ana Tijoux, and Spanish singer Mala Rodriguez. Besides these consolidated stars of the Latin Alternative scene, LAMC will feature additional performances by top artists such as La Vida Boheme, Carla Morrison, Ritmo Machine, and 3BallMTY, among many more.
Apart from the music, this event features different interesting panels and exhibits. For instance, on Thursday, July 12, there will be an exclusive Q&A session where Gabriel Abaroa, The Latin Recording Academy's CEO, will sit next to Calle 13. Additional discussions will focus on things like effective marketing on YouTube and finding the right audience in today's changing radio landscape.
One of this year's top shows will take place on Friday, July 13. That day, a unique showcase featuring Calle 13, Ana Tijoux and Ritmo Machine will be hosted by Celebrate Brooklyn!, one of New York City's most popular outdoor art festivals. The event is free and doors will open at 6:00 PM. If you are in the New York City area this week, I highly recommend to check out this fantastic event.
