A new chapter of the Bachata face-off between Romeo Santos and Prince Royce has been set up with the announcement of the list of nominees for the 2013 Premio Lo Nuestro awards. Each singer has captured seven nominations for the 25th edition of these popular Latin music awards organized by the Spanish-language network Univision. While Romeo Santos gathered his nominations thanks to his hit album Formula Vol. 1, Prince Royce's nods are the result of his popular work Phase II.
As a consequence of this, the Tropical category of the awards has been mostly defined by this face-off. For instance, in the award for Song of the Year in the Tropical field each singer is competing with two songs: Rome Santos' "La Diabla" and "Mi Santa" are against Prince Royce's "Las Cosas Pequeñas" and "Incondicional." In the middle of that match, Victor Manuelle's "Si Tu Me Besas" is the only non-Bachata track running for that trophy.
Premio Lo Nuestro is not, of course, only about Bachata. The Rock / Alternative category, for example, has a very interesting match between the popular Rock band Mana and Colombian superstar Juanes. They are competing against each other in the three subcategories included in this field. Similarly, the Regional category is offering a tough fight between some of the most popular Mexican bands including La Arrolladora Banda el Limon de Rene Camacho, Banda El Recodo, La Adictiva Banda de San Jose De Mesillas and La Original Banda el Limon de Salvador Lizarraga.
Additional top nominees include Latin music stars such as Don Omar, Ricardo Arjona, Jenni Rivera, Juan Luis Guerra and Daddy Yankee. If you want to cast your vote for your favorite artist, you can do that at Premio Lo Nuestro's official site. Voting will be open until December 23. Premio Lo Nuestro awards will air on Univision next February 21 at 7:00 PM ET. Stay tuned for more news about this exciting event.
