Overall, I have to say 2012 was a very good year for Latin music. The market was flooded with lots of nice albums and songs covering different Latin music genres such as Bachata, Latin Pop, Urban, and Regional Mexican music, just to mention a few. Likewise, some of this year's best tracks were delivered by popular stars including artists like Don Omar, Ana Tijoux, Juanes and Cafe Tacvba, among others.
In terms of Tropical music, Bachata singers Prince Royce and Romeo Santos dominated the field. However, Juan Luis Guerra and Fonseca also shared some of the glory in this genre with singles such as "Las Avispas" and "Desde Que No Estas." Similarly, Latin Urban music produced a whole spectrum of sounds topped by Don Omar's hit "Dutty Love."
As far as Regional Mexican music goes, La Arrolladora Banda El Limon enjoyed lots of popularity this year thanks to the hit song "Llamada De Mi Ex." In the Latin Pop side, Jesse & Joy's "Corre" and Ricardo Arjona's "Fuiste Tu" were among the most popular tracks of 2012.
Some of the best Latin music albums of the year included some of the most memorable tracks of 2012. Juanes' "Azul Sabina" and Cafe Tacvba's "Yo Busco" are only a couple of examples of this. The following 12 tracks are my top Latin music songs of 2012.
