In 2012, The Latin Recording Academy selected Caetano Veloso, one of the most influential Brazilian artists in history, as the recipient of the Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year Award. On November 14, 2012, a gala event featuring popular stars such as Nelly Furtado, Juanes, Juan Luis Guerra and Alejandro Sanz payed tribute to the musical legacy of the famous Brazilian singer and songwriter.
