Guide Review - CD Review: Guardianes Del Amor - Decorame El Corazon
With Los Guardianes Del Amor's album Decorame El Corazon, the band offers 11 tracks of danceable cumbia, tango and ballads, all united with the theme of romantic love. Guardianes' genre is billed as "pop" and certainly both the music and lyrics are contemporary. But always underlying the modern veneer you'll find the instrumentation and rhythms of the more traditional tejano/norteno orchestra. The combination is engaging in every way."Decorame El Corazon", the hit single, opens the album with an upbeat cumbia that extends an irresistable invitation to love. Composed by Arturo Rodriguez and Pablo Calderon, the composers are also responsible for "Basta De Lagrimas", "Solo Los Tontos Lloran" and "Otro Amor Igual". The CD also contains a great Spanish language version of Michael Jackson's "That Girl is Mine" and Simple Plan's "I'm Not Perfect".
The accompanying DVD has 2 videos; "Decorame El Corazon" features a sweet 'boy meets girl' theme and "Bibiendo Lagrimas", part of which is sung in English. It also contains an interview with the band (in Spanish) and a photo gallery.
But its the songs "Dividido" and "Ella Se Fue" that are my favorites. I found them engrossing and irrersistable. In fact, since I was driving the first time I heard the tracks, the California Highway Patrol can attest to just how engrossing they are.
