Marc Anthony named his son (with Dayanara Torres) ‘Christian’ after one of his heroes, Mexican Pop star Christian Castro. So it’s a little surprising that he waited this long to release his first all-Spanish Latin Pop album, Amar Sin Mentiras (to Love without Lies).
Amar sin Mentiras has a lush, orchestral sound with the help of the London Symphony Orchestra and the Argentine String Ensemble. “Ahora Quien” is the breakout single from the album; “Escapemonos “ with new bride Jennifer Lopez was featured in the film “Shall we Dance”. “Amigo” boasts guitar styling reminiscent of Santana.
Amar was this years’ winner of the Latin Grammy’s best Latin Pop album. If music that is slow, sensual and sentimental sends you gliding across a room, this album is for you. If you like your music a little livelier, the companion album, Valio la Pena might be what you’re waiting for.
