No Work Today! Playlist For Your Day Off

By Tijana Ilich, About.com

If, for whatever reason, you've decided to take a day off from your 9-5, you're going to need some cool music to alleviate any residual guilt you might be feeling. Or, if you're not feeling any, you'll like these tracks just as much. Is there a better way to spend a day away from your routine than dancing and listening to great tunes?

1. "Perdon" - Vicente Fernandez

To all the employers out there who are not getting their 8 hours worth, here's a song expressing your apologies. Okay, Vicente Fernandez might be sincere, but there's nothing wrong with a little tongue in cheek.

From his Mis Duetos album.

2. "Gasolina" - Daddy Yankee

Nature might be able to feed you, but one of the reasons you do (whatever you do) is for that magic liquid that feeds your car- here currently at over $4/gallon. Here's a song to help you remember why you have to go back to work.

From Barrio Fino.

3. "Bla Bla Bla" - Yerba Buena

Tired of broken promises? So are Yerba Buena. Express your disgust for empty rhetoric with a song that probably says it for you. Great bloopers from our prez.

From Island Life.

4. "Culebra" - Grupo Niche

There's doubtless a snake in your workplace and you'll have a chance to figure out who it is as you salsa your way through Grupo Niche's "Culebra" (Snake).

From Imaginacion.

5. "Sshh!" - Los Kumbia Kings

If you're calling in sick, this is good advice from the Kumbia Kings to both you and your friends. After all, you've probably got sick time coming! Who has to know you're not sick?

From Kumbia Kings Live!

6. "Polos Opuestos" - n'klabe

"Polar Opposites" is a good way to express our two party system and why nothing ever seems to get done. Do you think they would learn how to agree if they got into salsa with Puerto Rican n'klabe?

From I Love Salsa!

7. "No Soy Cupable" - Monchy & Alexandra

You might be taking a day off because you continually get blamed for things you didn't do, which means a song protesting your innocence is just the ticket. Of course, if also works if you get caught playing hookey!

From Monchy y Alexandra: Unplugged

8. "Maldita Suerte" - NG2

Unless, you have that perfect job, you probably spend time thinking about why - after all your hard work and effort - you ended up where you are. Well, maybe you could have worked harder. Maybe you could have made better decisions. Or may - it's just bad luck.

From Al Fin

9. "Que Lio" - Hector Lavoe

Yup, it sure is going to be a mess if you get caught playing hookey. You might find yourself screaming 'Help Me' to co-workers, just as Hector Lavoe does in this tune.

From El Cantante: The Originals

10. "No Tengo Dinero" - Los Kumbia Kings

Well, this is why you need to go to work tomorrow!

From Canta Como: Los Kumbia Kings
