November is a great month for concert goers with tours by Vicente Fernandez, RDB, Cafe Tacuba and Alejandro Sanz. But there were so many other worthwhile acts hitting the stage, that it was difficult to limit the list. So, here are the concerts that I would go to if I could be everywhere these artists are performing.
11. Juan Gabriel
Juan Gabriel is not only a great performer, he is one of Mexico's most wonderful and prolific composers. Marc Anthony's "Hasta Que Te Conoci", Los Kumbia King's "No Tengo Dinero" and Cristian Castro's "Manana" were all composed by Gabriel.Inducted into the Latin Music Hall of Fame in 1996, Gabriel fell off a stage in 1995 and the subsequent injuries kept him away from an eager public. Here's your chance to see the legend (and play a little poker/blackjack as well.
Nov. 21: El Paso, TX - Don Haskins Center
Nov. 23: Las Vegas, NV - MGM Grand Hotel
12. Rosa Passos
A legend in her native Brazil, Rosa Passos is less known in the U.S. but that is slowly being corrected. Her genre is Brazilian jazz, her voice ideal for the form. She's also a composer and guitarist and will hopefully be performing some of her own compositions at the prestigious Berklee School of Music.Nov. 8: Boston, MA - Berklee Performance Center
13. Frankie Negron
Puerto Rican Frankie Negron (who is actually from New Jersey) is one of my favorite urban salseros. He doesn't tour often, but has two dates in California this month.Nov. 11: Los Angeles, CA - El Rey Theatre
Nov. 25: Montebello, CA - Quiet Cannon
