May is the month when the weather really starts warming up and along with it, the list of Latin music performers hitting the concert stage.
This month there's four concert tours filling the month: Ricky Martin, Chayanne, Manu Chao and Los Tigres del Norte. Then there's two great Brazilian artists performing: Roberto Carlos and Bebel Gilberto. And, let's not forget Fonseca, Carlos Vives, Wisin y Yandel and Kumbia All Starz. A good month.
1. Ricky Martin
This is the last month of Ricky Martin's Black & White Tour, promoting his Ricky Martin MTV Unplugged album. Catch it while you can!
You can see the concert schedule at:
2. Chayanne
Chayanne's new album, Mi Tiempo has just been released, and Chayanne is in the middle of his promotional tour, which goes through June.
3. Manu Chao
I'm never sure whether or not Manu Chao should be considered a Latin artist, although his popularity is huge in the Latin countries. His parents are from Spain, he makes his home in France and he sings in several languages.
4. Los Tigres del Norte
Los Tigres del Norte's new album, Detalles y Emociones is dominating the charts these days, but there's nothing better than seeing this dynamic band live.
5. Fonseca
Colombia's Fonseca is the new golden boy in Latin music, winning best new artist in just about every awards show this year. It's no wonder, with an album as good as Corazon in record stores.
6. Wisin y Yandel
Here's a real treat for reggaeton lovers; the very popular Puerto Rican duo, Wisin y Yandel, will be playing at three large venues this month.
7. Roberto Carlos
Brazil's Roberto Carlos hasn't been touring much, so these two nights in Miami are a special treat.
8. Carlos Vives
I've seen Colombia's Carlos Vives live and have to say it was a memorable experience. The award winning singer and his band are electric as they bring the music of his pueblo to Hollywood, Florida.
- May 17, Hollywood, FL - Hard Rock Live
9. Bebel Gilberto
Brazilian singer-songwriter Bebel Gilberto is the daughter of Joao Gilberto and has been performing since she was a kid. If you like, cool, smooth bossa nova, Bebel's the ticket.
10. Kumbia All Starz
Since the Kumbia Kings split into the Kings and the All Stars, they've been the center of huge controvery. Sometimes it seems that we're getting more gossip than music, although I did like From Kumbia Kings to Kumbia All Starz.
