Watch The 2008 Short Form Music Video Of The Year Nominees

By Tijana Ilich, About.com

Here are this year's nominees for 'Best Short Form Video' which means it's a video of a single track rather than a DVD of something like a live concert. The entries are from Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Paris & Los Angeles, but all the videos are fun to watch.

By the way, the embedded links are downloads to the songs, not the videos!

When you're finished, you can vote for your favorites.

1. Babasonicos - "Pijamas"

Argentine alt-rockers Babsonicos' video of their hit single "Pijamas" is a mixture of low and high tech, from beribboned sheep and skateboarding nuns to some fun animation.

2. Bajofondo - "Pa' Bailar"

Bajofondo - Mar DulceSurco Records
Bajofondo started out as a the Bajofondo Tango Club, performing a unique brand of electronic neo-tango that could easily change the way you think about the form. Now, Bajofondo's leader Gustavo Santaolalla has announced that the group's name is simply 'Bajofondo' and that their and that their music is not just the tango but a blend of music that comes from the Argentine-Uruguayan border.

There are actually 2 videos of "Pa' Bailar"; this one, directed by Pablo Casacuberta, is the nominee and I think may be my pick.

3. Juanes - 'Me Enamora'

When the first single from Juanes' new album came out, it immediately flew to the top of the charts. The video is notable for the mobile LCD screens parading in different scenes and I have to wonder if that's computer animation or if these mobile monitors really exist?

4. Manu Chao - "Me Llaman Calle"

Manu Chao's video of "Me Llaman Calle" is one of the simplest and yet it works so well. The video which translates to "They call me Street" is about the denigration inherent in human trafficking but it's such a lovely, almost cheerful video that I'm not sure the visual message matches the lyrics.

5. Molotov - "Yofo"

Mexico's Molotov "Yofo" is really catchy although I can't claim to really be sure what it's about. Having shots and getting drunk? Refusing to accept responsibility? Flu-like musical germs? All I can say is "Yofo zato fofo!"
