The 'Best Urban Song' category is another songwriter rather than performer award. This year's nominees are interesting in that, except for "Al Son De Boom" which only features Daddy Yankee, the songwriters are also the artists that performed the song.

After Tito El Bambino left Hector y Tito for a solo career, there were a lot of people thinking he wouldn't make it on his own. Boy, were they wrong. His new album It's My Time has done well on the charts and has been nominated for 'Best Urban Music Album' as well as for this song.
I have to admit, watching the video which is basically in praise of a girl, I was thinking that this would be a great promo for selling motor vehicles (think Paris Hilton).

3. "Ni Fu Ni Fa" - Tego Calderon

Even though Tego Calderon is one of the early pioneers of reggaeton, he's been moving away from the genre towards hip hop, reggae and ska fusions, as you can hear as you watch this infectious video.

4. "Soy Igual Que Tu" - Alexis & Fido /Toby Love

This song is a good example of what happens when you take reggaeton's Alexis & Fido and have them mix it up with bachata's Toby Love. The tunes start makes you think maybe you're going to get a Dominican ballad until that dembow rhythm kicks in and places you back in Puerto Rico.
