Here's the list of the notable new releases for this week.
Gilberto Gil is one of Brazil's most illustrious singer/guitarist/songwriters. The Grammy Award winning musicians has been an icon of
Brazilian music since the 1960s.
Duetos is a compilation of 14 tracks of some of his most famous duets, performed with other legendary Brazilian performers like Chico Buarque, Joao Donato, Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethania. This looks like a dynamite, sound-packed CD.
Spain's Chambao fuse flamenco and palo with electronics into a unique sound they've named "flamenco chill".
Con Otro Aire is their fourth studio album, with most of the tracks written by Chambao's La Mari.
Tiranos Del Norte are primarily a
banda band; their
Romanticos Por Siempre should be right in time for February - that most romantic of months.
Immensely popular Carlos Y Jose deliver another album that mixes
norteno corridos with some nice ballads.
This album is another remastered, Fania label CD by
Celia Cruz.
Mucho Love is not part of Cruz' discography, but is a collection of
Cuban son and romantic ballads. Listening to sound clips of the album's 12 tracks, these are songs performed by a young and soulful Celia.
This looks like another Fania compilation, composed of romantic ballads performed by famed singer/percussionists Miranda during salsa classic era. Looks like Fania (or rather, EMusica) is getting ready for Valentine's day.
This looks like it might be a merging of two great Feliciano albums:
Feliciano..10 to 23, recorded in 1969 and
Fireworks, which came out the following year.
