New Releases for March 4, 2008

By , About.com Guide

Here are this week's notable new releases.

1. Forever Tango (DVD)

In the last year, I've received innumerable requests from readers who would like to be able to watch a performance of Forever Tango, the popular tango extravaganza from Luis Bravo. Well, here it is, filmed live at the Teatro Coliseo Podesta in La Plata, Argentina.

2. Kumbia AllStarz - Planeta Kumbia

The eagerly awaited new Kumbia AllStarz album is here and fans of lead singer PeeWee should know that this may be his last performance with the AllStarz (at least full time); the popular teen idol will be moving on to a solo career.

3. Senor Flavio - Supersaund 2012

Senor Flavio is a founding member of Argentina's legendary rock band, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs. Supersaund 2012 finds Senor Flavio delivering an album full of the band's signature reggae/ska, except here's it is mixed with garage rock, psycobilly and punk.

4. Los Tigres del Norte - Raices

The ever-popular and prolific Los Tigres del Norte have 2 albums scheduled for release this month. Raices drops today and is somewhat of a departure from their normal corridos describing contemporary immigrant life. Raices gives a nod to culturally important songs from Mexican folkloric tradition. In fact, the album's first single, "Rumbo al Sur" is an unexpected ranchera.

Look for the second album, the soundtrack from the upcoming feature film Under the Same Moon (La Misma Luna) to release March 19th.

5. Akwid - La Novela

Mexican duo Akwid has really turned out an album fat with great guest artists, including Jenni Rivera, Kuky, Chico XL, Flaco Elizalde and Voces del Rancho. For a preview, you can listen to their single, "Ombligo A Ombligo" with Los Tucanes de Tijuana.

6. Laura Leon - Lo Nuevo

Mexican singer/actress Laura Leon's last album, Mi Tesoro Eres Tu came out in 2000 and it seemed like Leon had retired from the music biz. I guess she was just taking a break.

7. La Autoridad De La Sierra - Todo Cambio

Formed by ex-K-Paz de la Sierra members, La Autoridad continues to entertain fans of Mexican duraguense music.
