What's new in Latin music?

By Tijana Ilich, About.com

Here are this week's notable new releases.

1. Los Fabulosos Cadillacs - 'La Luz Del Ritmo'

La Luz Del Ritmo is the first studio album by this iconic Argentine rock band in almost 10 years. The album is a mix of new original songs and some of the Cadillacs' classics. By the way, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs will be on tour in the U.S. in April.

2. 3 De La Habana - 'Llego El Momento'

Straight from Havana, Llego El Momento is the group's 4th album, but the first one available in the states. This album of contemporary cuban music was recorded in Los Angeles during the summer of 2008. The tracks were mostly composed by group members and are a mix of ballads, reggae and reggaeton.

3. Eva Ayllon - 'Kimba Fa'

This might be the year of Afro-Peruvian music. A couple of weeks ago Novalima released their Afro-Peruvian album Coba Coba; now Peruvian legend Eva Ayllon has a new album, her first in quite awhile.

4. Osvaldo Roman - 'Asi Soy Yo'

For Colombian salsa dura fans, Osvaldo Roman has sung with Grupo Niche, Puerto Rican Power, Tito Nieves and lots, lots more. This is the first album under his own name, produced by Diego Gale (of Grupo Gale) and a Colombia/Puerto Rico joint production.

5. Majestad de la Sierra - 'Nueva Ilusion'

K-Paz de la Sierra is one of Duranguense's premier groups; Majestad was formed by K-Paz members Beto Duran and Luis Diaz. I don't know whether or not the recording of the album was a secret from the larger group, but fans will have a chance to see how Majestad measures up.
