Here are this week's notable new releases.

1. Roberto Carlos - 'Roberto Carlos En Vivo'

Roberto Carlos appeared at the new Carnival Center for the Performing Arts in May, 2007 and an enraptured audience listened to him sing many of his hit songs in Spanish, rather than Portuguese. The corresponding DVD was released in 2007; now the audio album is available.

2. Crooked Stilo - 'Cumbia Urbana'

The name Crooked Stilo depicts what the Los Angeles-based duo does with their music; they take one style, in this case hip hop, and make it 'crooked' by fusing with with another, primarily cumbia. They call their restyled music 'cumbia urbana.'

3. Buika - 'Nina De Fuego'

Although Concha Buika was born in Majorca, her parents were political refugees from Equatorial Guinea in West Africa. However her life was in Spain and her music is a mix of soul, hip hop, jazz, Spanish copla and flamenco.

4. Baby Ranks - 'Mi Flow: This Is It"

Baby Ranks has been on numerous compilation albums in the the past, most notably 2005's Luny Tunes & Baby Ranks: Mas Flow. This is the reggaeton artist's debut solo album and it includes guest appearances by Angle Lopez, Erick Right, La India, Divino & Borsi.

5. Wayne Wallace - 'The Nature Of The Beat'

San Franciso jazz trombonist Wayne Wallace's new album is a collection of pieces that include Latin jazz versions of standards such as "Besame Mucho", Herbie Hancock's "Come Running to Me" and Teddy Powell's "Unchain My Heart."

6. El Flaco Elizalde - 'Rey Sin Reina'

Flaco Elizalde continues the family's legacy with his 4th album Rey Sin Reina. Pay attention to cut, "Mi Hermano" written in memory of the slain Valentin Elizalde.
